Brickstone Update - September
September 15, 2011
Joanne Braeunle, Project ManagerBrickstone News –September
Are the latest pictures exciting or what? I’ll keep this short since the pictures tell the story better than my words. Most noticeable is the external work on the eastern set of bungalows (Group A)—framing is up, roofs are done on several homes, and siding has started. Insulation and windows are going in as well. Foundations are in for the second set of bungalows (Group B)—the southern most homes and the homes along Cattail Crossing. Concrete slabs will be poured on the remaining units in that group in the next few days.
We are making great progress and it is exciting to see the community really begin to take shape. Please remember that Brickstone is an active construction site with access limited to construction workers at all times. As tempting as it might be to go on site to see your home, we want to keep you safe so you can enjoy Brickstone when it is done. You can view the site and take pictures from anywhere along Elmwood Ave. The attached photo collage will give you a close-up view as well as a birds-eye view. We will continue to provide you with pictures throughout construction so that you can safely see the progress of our community.
I know we’ve mentioned how much weather can impact our construction schedule and that was certainly true as we slogged through the wettest spring on record. The recent hurricane may have missed Rochester, but it has impacted our work plans a bit. Utility trucks that were scheduled to work on Brickstone were redirected to help downstate areas of NY and the east coast that were hard hit by hurricane Irene. Some of our utility work is on-hold until the trucks are freed up from the disaster recovery work. It was thrilling for me to meet and talk with many of you at the recent picnic at St. John’s Meadows. It is rewarding to finally replace drawings and plans with the faces and names of our founding members!
